GENERAL
What ages do you cater for?
We welcome children from 9 months to 5 years in our nursery, and offer wraparound care including breakfast club and after school club for children aged 6 to 16.
What are your opening hours?
We are open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Standard hours are 7:30am to 6:00pm, with extended evening care available Monday to Friday until 8:00pm.

Do you offer weekend sessions?
Yes, we are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30am to 6:00pm. Weekend sessions can be booked as full days or half days to suit your schedule.
Can I come and visit before enrolling?
Absolutely. We encourage all parents to book a visit so you can see our rooms, meet the team, and get a feel for the nursery before making any decisions. Contact us to arrange a time that works for you.
FEES & FUNDING
What are your fees?

Do you accept government funded hours?
Yes, we accept both 15 and 30 funded hours for eligible families. Funded hours can be stretched across the week to suit your schedule. We handle all the paperwork and can help you check your eligibility.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, a one-off registration fee applies for all new starters. This secures your child's place and covers initial administration. Please contact us for the current amount.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes, we offer a discount for siblings attending at the same time. Please speak to our team for full details on our sibling pricing.
Are meals included in the fees?
Yes, all meals, snacks, and refreshments are included in our session fees at no extra cost. This includes breakfast, lunch, tea, and healthy snacks throughout the day.
DAILY ROUTINE & MEALS
What does a typical day look like?
Children enjoy a structured but flexible daily routine that includes free play, guided activities, outdoor time, meals, rest periods, and circle time. The exact schedule varies by age group, and you can view a sample daily routine on our Early Years page.
Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
Yes, our kitchen team caters for all dietary requirements and allergies. We ask parents to inform us of any allergies or special dietary needs during the registration process, and we work closely with you to ensure your child is safe and well-fed.
Do children go outside every day?
Yes, outdoor play is a core part of every child's day at NexGen Stars. Our purpose-built outside area is used 365 days a year, rain or shine, with appropriate clothing and all-weather surfaces.
What do I need to provide for my child?
We ask parents to provide a spare change of clothes, nappies and wipes if needed, and any comfort items your child may need. All meals, snacks, and sun cream are provided by us.
Do children have nap or rest time?
Yes, we provide a dedicated rest area with individual cots and mats. Nap and rest times are guided by each child's individual needs and home routine, and we work with parents to keep things consistent.
EYFS & LEARNING
What curriculum do you follow?
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, the national standard for learning, development, and care from birth to five. It covers seven key areas of learning tailored to each age group.
How do you track my child's progress?
Each child has an individual learning journal where practitioners record observations, milestones, and next steps. We share progress updates with parents regularly and welcome discussions about your child's development at any time.
What is a key worker?
Every child is assigned a key worker, a dedicated practitioner who takes primary responsibility for your child's care, learning, and daily updates. They are your main point of contact and help ensure your child feels settled and secure.
How do you prepare children for school?
Our pre-school programme focuses on school readiness through phonics, early maths, literacy, social skills, and self-regulation. We track progress against the EYFS Early Learning Goals and work closely with local schools to ensure a smooth transition to reception.
WRAPAROUND CARE
What is included in Breakfast Club?
Breakfast Club runs from 7:30am and includes a freshly prepared breakfast with hot options, cereals, fresh fruit, and drinks. Children are supervised by our team and walked or transported to school afterwards.
What happens at After School Club?
Children are collected from school and brought to NexGen Stars where they receive a healthy snack, have time for homework support, and enjoy activities including sports, arts and crafts, and free play. Pick-up is flexible until 6:00pm.
Do you offer extended evening care?
Yes, extended evening sessions are available Monday to Friday until 8:00pm. Children enjoy a light evening meal and wind-down activities. This can be booked regularly or on an ad hoc basis.
Do you offer holiday club sessions?
Yes, we offer holiday club sessions during school holidays for children aged 6 to 16. Full-day sessions are available with planned activities, meals, and supervised care throughout.
Which schools do you collect from?
We collect from several local schools in the Leyton area. Please contact us with your child's school name and we can confirm whether we currently cover it or can arrange collection.
SAFETY & WELFARE
Are all staff DBS checked?
Yes, every member of our team holds an enhanced DBS check. All staff are trained in safeguarding, first aid, and child protection procedures, with regular refresher training throughout the year.
What qualifications do your staff have?
All practitioners hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in childcare and education. Many of our team have additional specialist training in areas such as SEN, speech and language, and outdoor learning.
What are your staff-to-child ratios?
We meet or exceed the statutory requirements set by Ofsted. Our ratios are typically 1:3 for under-twos, 1:4 for two-year-olds, and 1:8 for three to five-year-olds.
What happens if my child is unwell?
If your child becomes unwell during the day, we will contact you immediately. We follow a 48-hour exclusion policy for sickness and diarrhoea in line with NHS guidance. All staff are paediatric first aid trained.
Is the nursery Ofsted registered?
Yes, NexGen Stars is fully registered with Ofsted and operates in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Our latest inspection report is available on request or via the Ofsted website.
GETTING STARTED
How do I enrol my child?
Simply contact us by phone, email, or through our website enquiry form. We will arrange a visit, discuss your needs, and guide you through our simple registration process.
Is there a settling-in period?
Yes, every child receives a tailored settling-in period before starting full sessions. This typically includes short visits with a parent present, followed by gradually longer sessions on their own, so your child can build confidence and familiarity with their key worker and surroundings.
Can I change my sessions after enrolling?
Yes, we are flexible and understand that family needs change. Session changes can usually be accommodated with reasonable notice, subject to availability. Speak to our team and we will do our best to help.
What is the notice period for leaving?
We require one month's written notice if you wish to withdraw your child from the nursery. Full details are included in our terms and conditions provided at registration.
