Learning Through the Early Years Foundation Stage
Every child at NexGen Stars follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework — the national standard for learning, development, and care from birth to five. It covers seven key areas of learning, from communication and language to physical development and understanding the world.
Our qualified practitioners plan age-appropriate activities that allow children to explore, create, and develop at their own pace. Whether your child is 9 months or preparing for reception, their journey is guided by observation, individual planning, and genuine care.
AGE GROUPS & CURRICULUM
Tailored Learning for Every Age
9–18 MONTHS
Discovery Stage
In the earliest months, learning happens through sensory exploration, secure attachments, and gentle routines. Our practitioners focus on the three prime areas of the EYFS — communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development — through treasure baskets, tummy time, music sessions, and one-to-one interaction that builds confidence and trust.
18 MONTHS–3 YEARS
Explorer Stage
Toddlers begin to make sense of the world through play, repetition, and social interaction. Our Explorer Stage introduces all seven areas of the EYFS with activities like messy play, water exploration, early mark-making, role play, and outdoor discovery. Every session is planned to encourage independence, language development, and growing curiosity about the world around them.
3–5 YEARS
School Readiness Stage
Our pre-school programme focuses on preparing children for the transition to reception with confidence and enthusiasm. Through phonics, early maths, literacy, creative projects, and structured group activities, children develop the academic foundations, social skills, and self-regulation they need. Progress is tracked against the EYFS Early Learning Goals, and we work closely with parents and local schools to ensure a smooth handover.

SMOOTH TRANSITIONS
Growing Up Without the Growing Pains
Moving between rooms is a big milestone, and we make sure every transition feels natural, supported, and exciting rather than overwhelming. Our team plans each move carefully, with settling-in visits, familiar faces, and open communication with parents at every step.
Children are only moved when they are developmentally ready — not just when they reach a certain age. We look at their confidence, communication, physical abilities, and social readiness before making any changes.
